Grayson County Parks and Recreation is excited to offer basic “Learn-to-Swim” courses this summer. Due to the lack of training available in our area to certify swim instructors with the Water Safety Instructor or WSI certification offerings will be limited this season.
Level 1 – Beginner – In this level we will promote “Safe Swim” techniques that will make you or your child more comfortable in the water. This program begins with basic levels of instruction that teach your child how to properly enter and exit the water, bobbing techniques, floating on your front and back, and how to make it safely back to the pools edge. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings beginning July 14th and will end on July 28th. Beginner class will be held at 6pm.
Level 2- Intermediate – In this level we will more thoroughly explore exercises that promote proper front crawl, back crawl and frog kick. The goal for this course is to swim one length of the pool unassisted. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings beginning July 14th and will end on July 28th. Intermediate class will be held at 6:45pm.
Swimming lesson registration will begin on July 5th and will be open to a maximum of 5 participants per level. Due to limited space a child may only participate in one level. Swimming lessons are free of charge but preregistration is required.
